Reversing contactors both large and small are similar in many ways to regular contactors, and serve a largely similar role save for the fact that they are used to reverse the rotation of an individual motor. A reversing contactor is essentially an assembly of two standard contactors, connected by a mechanical and electrical interlock. This interlock means that only one contactor can be closed at any one time, so that the rotation of the motor can be reversed at will.
